June 21, 2014 (San Diego) At 3:15 a brush fire broke at the river bed at Napa and Friars. San Diego Police closed Friars Rd at Napa for both East and West access and per radio traffic expects it to be for two hours.

The fire became a second alarm at four in the afternoon with units from San Diego Fire Department responding including one of the Air Units. The fire at this point is still smoldering but forward spread towards the Bridge was stopped but there was some fear that it was still going Westwards.

Fire Units are expected to be on scene for an extended period to do mop up.

Also early on during the incident the Metro Arson Strike Team was requested by the On Scene commander. They will also open the tracks for the San Diego Trolley momentarily.
