July 9, 2014 (San Marcos) The Sheriffs Office, through their spokesperson Melissa Aquino, said today that the “Cocos Fire” was intentionally set by a minor.

The suspect has been arrested and the case referred to the Office of the District Attorney. There is no name or age due to the fact that the suspect is a minor.

This was one of nine fires that burned 9,000 acres during a single day in May. The “Bernardo” Fire was caused by a backhoe, and there is no data as to the origin of the other fires, though investigations are still under way.
