March 4, 2016 (CHP)– Crews will close Otay Mesa Road in both directions between La Media Road and Sanyo Avenue for five consecutive nights beginning Monday, according to Caltrans. The closures will take place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. to place bridge falsework as part of State Route 905 (SR-905)/SR-125/SR-11 Northbound Connectors Project.
Westbound traffic will be detoured south onto Sanyo Avenue to Airway Road to La Media Road and west on Otay Mesa Road. Eastbound travelers will use the same detour route in the opposite direction. Access to SR-125/South Bay Expressway will remain open to users.
Detour signs will direct motorists around the closure. All work is dependent on weather conditions.
The interchange is one of the last critical links in the overall border road network, providing direct access to SR-125 from SR-905 and SR-11.
Project information is available on the Caltrans website at www.dot.ca.gov/dist11/facts.
