March 11, 2016 (CALTRANS) Caltrans will close all lanes on northbound Interstate 805 (I-805) from La Jolla Village Drive/Miramar Road to Interstate 5 (I-5) overnight, Monday through Thursday, from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. The closures are necessary for concrete median barrier construction for the I-805 North Express Lanes Project, Stage 1.
Northbound motorists will be detoured to westbound State Route 52 (SR-52) to northbound I-5. Travelers wishing to exit at Nobel Drive or Governor Drive will be allowed to continue north on I-805 to their exits.
The work schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions. In the event of rain, the closures may be rescheduled.
This project is constructing one carpool lane in each direction in the median of I-805 from just north of SR-52 to just north of Mira Mesa Boulevard and a south-facing Direct Access Ramp at Carroll Canyon Road. Construction cost for Stage 1 is about $86 million and is funded with state, federal and local sources, including the Proposition 1B State – Local Partnership Program and TransNet Extension funds.
