Georgette Gomez Wins D-9 in San Diego

Nov 9, 2016 (San Diego) Georgette Gomez, a local activist, has taken District 9 seat, replacing Marti Emerald. She defeated Ricardo Flores, who was the chief of staff for Emerald. The seat remains firmly in Democratic hands. This means that San Diego will have divided government, as the Mayor, Kevin Faulconer is a Republican.

As we keep saying, nominally these seats are non-partisan, but they hardly are such anymore. For city watchers this should be of interest, as Gomez is not a friend of the developers.
