Feb 28, 2017 (San Diego) Flood waters are quite high, at some points they are up to 4 feet, or more. We drove around Fashion Valley looking for evidence and the first stop was Fashion Valley.

This is some footage from the parking lot of the river bellow.

Here are some of the photos.

This photo shows the San Diego River with Interstate 163 above it. The waters are about two feet below the freeway.

In case you wonder, yes the parking structures are flooded under. and we know water is up to four feet since we can see the yellow crash bins, at the bottom of the trolley. Some of them the water is up to the lids. They are four feet.

These are brackish, smelly waters.

Here is the gallery for the rest of the Fashion Valley Mall

The force of the water can be appreciated by the bent fence and the depth by the swimming seagull, with the river behind it. Yes, that seagull is in a parking lot.  Yes, the Lifeguards have a swift river rescue vehicle, just in case.

At Mission Center Drive we found the water quite high as well, and some people drove up to the edge and then turned around. This was good, though there was media there, ready to record if need be.

This was not the case at Camino del Este, where a Dominos Driver tried to cross the river at some point. He did not make it. All we saw was a vehicle that was a total loss, with the roof showing. Ask yourself, is your life worth that? Is a minimum wage job worth risking your life?

That vehicle will likely not be covered by insurance since it happened while at work.

The rest of the trip showed, even more, flooding. We took some photos at the baseball park by the eight and the river over Morena Boulevard.

We also saw the fire department by a structure on the west side of the valley. What is clear is that the flooding is major flooding.

We also noticed that many businesses along the river were closed, likely in the expectation of more flooding. The area is still under flood warning conditions and is epxected to remains in place
