“Eclipse Fire” Near Campo at 200 Acres

Evacuations have been lifted. This is per CAL FIRE

Update 17:35 via CAL FIRE:

Update at 17:00: Isaac Sanchez, Public Information Officer for CAL FIRE is reporting 5 percent containment. The fire is in heavy brush and has a moderate rate of spread.

There are mandatory evacuations of the Mountain Warfare Training facility and La Posta Road from Royal Willie to La Posta Truck Trail.  Advisory evacuations are in effect from La Posta Truck Trail to Old Hwy 80. There are road closures at La Posta Rd and Hwy 94 and La Posta Rd and Old Hwy 80.

The Temporary Evacuation Point is at the Mountain Empire High School at 3305 Buckman Springs Road is the evacuation center. This is according to the San Diego Sheriff’s Office.

CAL FIRE just updated, and the fire is at 200 acres, with mandatory road closures:

CALFIRE is reporting there is a 100-acre wildland fire near Campo at the intersection of La Posta Road and Royal Willie Road.  The fire is a moderate threat to structures.  Evacuations have been ordered for the area north of Royal Willie Rd. to the Mountain Warfare Training Center.


This fire is growing. Per CAL FIRE Twitter Feed. Those are dangerous conditions.

Update: Per CAL FIRE, the fire is now at 25 acres, and evacuations have started.

August 21, 2017 (CAMPO) A wildfire, dubbed the Eclipse Fire, started near the East County community of Campo.

According to CAL FIRE the fire is at 3 acres, with moderate of spread, but is not threatening any structures. They continue to dispatch units.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s incident page, there is a soft closure in place at La Posta Road.
