Everyone needs a place to pursue their hobbies. Whether you have a love of crafting wooden dolls or tinkering around with old clocks, the garage can be a great space to work on your favorite tasks. However, while working on your projects, you need to have proper lighting, especially if you are using sharp tools. One way to get more even illumination is by using under cabinet LED strips. These strips, or light bars, can last upwards of 50,000 hours and can easily be mounted underneath cabinets. Unlike hanging lamps that often create shadows, under cabinet LED strips have more precise and direct lighting, allowing for sharper focus in your work space. Another form of lighting that is helpful for your workspace or crafting table is LED strip lights. As stated earlier, these lights are easy to use and can be placed practically anywhere because of their adhesive back.

Like the rest of your home, your garage should be a reflection of you, not a dark, dank place where illumination goes to die. Create a space that both you and your car can appreciate.  Do you have any suggestions on improving the illumination in your garage? Feel free to leave your responses in the comment section below. Work areas are home to numerous detailed orientated projects. Make sure you never miss a thing with proper lighting!

It’s important to remember that not all fluorescent lights work consistently in cold weather. You need to make sure the light fixture you install in your garage will perform reliably under any weather condition. Determine the coldest temperature in your garage and choose a fluorescent fixture based on that. You can find the starting temperatures on the ballast. Buy fluorescent fixtures with electronic ballasts if the temperature in your garage goes below 50 degrees.

T12 lighting requires a minimum temperature of 60 degrees Fahrenheit to avoid the fluttering effect that many people associate with fluorescent lighting T8 lighting can start at freezing temperatures depending on the type of ballast in your light fixture.

Electronic ballasts are ideal for areas with cold temperatures. T5 lighting is much smaller compared to the previously mentioned types of bulbs without sacrificing light output. These are perfect for tight spaces.

There are also T5H0 bulbs which output more intense light than regular T5 bulbs.

Installing or upgrading entryway lighting adds fashion and function to your garage exterior. Add ambiance and visual assistance for finding keys late at night.

For example, consider trying a T5 fluorescent fixture, which is cost-effective, long-lasting and reliable. These fixtures are meant to distribute an even amount of high intensity light, and they are primarily instant start-up, so you won’t have to wait around for them to turn off and on. These fixtures should be placed in the center of the ceiling to give the garage overall better lighting. When purchasing your fluorescent lights, please note that ballasts are also required.

As mentioned before, motion sensor lights are great for the entryway of your garage.  However, you may want to consider incorporating battery powered wireless LED ceiling lights to aid in everyday storage lighting. For example they can be especially helpful if you need to run in your garage to grab items like canned goods, bottle water, or kitty litter. These lights can be attached or mounted anywhere, even under shelves, and deliver a brilliant white light using LEDs. The best part is they automatically shut off in just 30 seconds.

Choosing the right types of bulbs for illuminating your garage is the key to improving the quality of your garage lighting. One of the best choices of general garage lighting is fluorescent bulbs. There are a variety of types that have different ballast and energy efficiencies. For your work areas, check out LED lighting that can be placed underneath shelving. This is a perfect way to get high-quality lighting directly above your workspace so you can see every detail of your project.

That 1995 Halloween costume you took a photo with Brad Pitt in has to go somewhere (you’re clearly not throwing it out at this point). If you’re like me, it will probably end up in a plastic container collecting dust on one of the shelves in your garage.  When you decide to rummage through a few of those unforgettable storage items, you’re definitely going to need some light to see what stays and what goes. Keep your garage storage shelves illuminated using LED tape lights. Tape lights are great for keeping small, dimmer areas illuminated like shelves and cabinets.  Remember, tape lights are easy to install because of their adhesive back. They give off excellent illumination and can be placed almost anywhere.

Your garage is multi-faceted, so your garage lighting should be as well. Choose different types of lighting based on the function of that specified area. For example, your general area lighting should be able to provide an even distribution of bright light. Your workbench area will need quality, close-range lighting that will allow you to properly see during projects involving dangerous tools or small parts. Being conscious of which areas of your garage provide specific functionality will help you choose lighting solutions that best serve its purpose.

In reality, you need bright and consistent light in your garage. The last thing you want is to slip on an oil patch or a wayward tool on the garage floor as you’re making your way to the house with an armload of groceries. Replace incandescent bulbs with fluorescent light fixtures and convert your garage into a safer, better-lit space.

When establishing your garage lighting, the first thing you want to do is consider your general illumination. A common issue with garage lighting is that most garages suffer from “cave-lighting” effects, meaning that many garages are incredibly dim and often only have a couple of ceiling lights in corners which create shadows and uneven lighting. One way to avoid this problem is to use fluorescent light fixtures. Depending on your garage and what you use it for, you may want to look at fixtures that require 2-6 lamps.

If you do some type of work in your garage where you need to see paint colors or wood stains clearly, opt for lighting fixtures or lamps with a color rendering index of at least 85. You can usually locate this information on the company’s website or product catalog. It is not normally indicated on the bulb itself or the packaging.

Fluorescent light panels are a great way to diffuse light efficiently in any room. They are also very effective in increasing the appeal and attractiveness of any space where they are installed. In our years of experience in this industry, we have shared our expertise about lighting with our customers. If you’re looking for ways to improve the lighting in your garage, read on below for some simple and practical tips to accomplish this.

Many people use their garages for storage, tool sheds, and even as a workshop. With the use of this space increasing, it’s becoming more vital than ever to have better lighting in your garage. Here are some tips on how to keep your garage illuminated for all your needs.

Each type of lighting has a range of bulbs to choose from based on several factors. This is most applicable with what will probably be your most used type of garage lighting, fluorescent bulbs. You need to consider the temperature range of your garage when choosing a type of fluorescent bulb to install.

Most garages have a single bare bulb for illumination. Since we do not consider this part of our living space and we are almost always merely passing through the garage, this is deemed adequate by many homeowners.

For safety reasons, convenience and ease with carrying out special projects, be sure to install the appropriate lighting fixtures in your garage.

Next, you will want to focus on lights in the entryway of your garage. Let’s face it, fumbling around for keys and trying to grab grocery bags is no fun, especially when it’s dark. To reduce all that unfortunate fumbling, consider installing motion sensor lights in the entryway.  For example, occupancy sensors turn lights on and off when a person is entering and exiting a room.
