Hi. I am Alan Banks. One of the owners of Evans Coghill Homes. I am here for you. I want to make sure you experience everything that Evans Coghill Homes is all about and, hopefully, become one of our home owners.

First, because ours is a story that begins with charity, and is based on deeply held beliefs about people, and home, and the importance of serving others, our core is that we believe in doing things right. That means being leaders, unafraid to stand out, always displaying the highest sense of integrity. It also means that we must LISTEN to everything around us, with the tell tale passion of an open mind, because each day there are new things to learn and master. Finally, with all the information we gather, and talent we have, we must EXECUTE with excellence, and continue to set the bar higher with every foundation, every warranty, and every key we hand to our customers.

Simply place your hands, a dish or a glass below the spout to start the flow of water. Pull away, and the water stops.

No more fingerprints on the stainless steel and no more germs being spread around since you don’t touch the faucet.

Why are we reintroducing Evans Coghill Homes with a new look and a new image? In reality, no one wants to change. It’s hard and often uncertain. But the truth is that change is inevitable, and if we cannot become pliable, and open to the future, it will not hold the promise we anticipate. Nowhere is the world changing more than residential home building. With everything moving so quickly around us, community and personal connection are often only accessed from home. Not just shelter, home is the environment from which we shape ourselves, and we owe it to our present homeowners and those who will find us in the future, to stay relevant, always ready to respond in a dynamic way.

A new look, combined with unchanging values, that’s Evans Coghill Homes. Categories: Designing with Jai, Good Info to Know, Homearama Charlotte 2013 | Posted: October 3, 2013 | Comments Off on A new look, combined with unchanging values, that’s Evans Coghill Homes.

Does it make sense to approach homebuilding with humility and awe? Absolutely. In this way we can become more approachable, professional, and reliable. It allows us to invite you to Look Closely at Evans Coghill Homes and always see the best. So, as we build an image, publish a philosophy, and partner with our community, you will always know we are striving to do it right.

Recently, on Facebook I came across a designer quiz…”If you could change just ONE thing about your kitchen what would it be?”

Use the handle any time to control your faucet manually. Or use it in conjunctionwith hands-free mode when you want toadjust the water temperature and flow.

All the faucets in this home are by Moen, but this one is our favorite. Come see our home in November and try it for yourself.

Task:  How to integrate the kitchen into the open floor plan and keep the feel of sophistication.

Got a question about a new home or new neighborhood? Saw something of interest here? Ready for a new Evans Coghill home? Or, just want to know more about what we do and what makes us unique?

You have got to see this thing in action and you will at Homearama 2013 at Cheval. Yes, it is a kitchen faucet but Moen has figured out how to make it fit better in our lives.

In addition, I am also looking for fixtures that have interest, charm and personality!  I find joy in turning a corner in a new home and seeing a fabulous light fixture that adds another layer of interest to the well-designed backdrop of a home.

Materials are as vast as your imagination, from wooden beads, shells and rope to the more formal crystals.  With well-chosen lighting, you can express yourself and your style!

Lighting has been at the top of my priority list for a few weeks now!  I’ve had so much fun visiting our wonderful lighting trade partner, Lightstyles in Cornelius!

Want to rinse off a plate on the way to the dishwasher? Need to wash your hands when they are covered in cookie dough? Or are you just grabbing a quick glass of water? MotionSense features sensors that intuitively understand what you’re trying to do and act like another set of invisible hands—turning the water on and off just when you need it.

The world of kitchen design is vast!  Layout alone is enough to make your head spin then add-in the functional (things you actually use to prepare food) with the form (things that cause you to love being in the space) and you may feel like you are in never, never land!

The Evans Coghill home at Cheval’s Homearama 2013 (beginning  November 9) is a masterpiece of lighting detail!   New lighting vendors will be featured as well as beautiful new finishes!  The lighting selections are sure to enhance an already spectacular home!  Can’t wait for you to SEE!

Donna and Terry stay current with lighting trends and comb through all the new selections from their various vendors to make sure I see all the great new styles!  Then, lucky me!  I get to pick and choose from the vast array of fixtures to place in our new portfolio homes!

Cool Feature at Homearama 2013 – Hands Free Faucet Categories: Cheval, Homearama Charlotte 2013 | Posted: August 31, 2013 | Comments Off on Cool Feature at Homearama 2013 – Hands Free Faucet

I love mixing and matching styles and metals to create a cohesive look from the front door all the way to the back porch!

Task: How to introduce beautiful new elements in a space that actually work for a busy/normal family.

It may cast cool shadows and totally change the look of a space by bringing ambiance and warmth to a space.  It may introduce classic modern style or nod to the craftsman era.

When we sat down to discuss how to do this, we all agreed that it was important that we define our core values, and then make them the foundation for everything we do. Let us share those philosophies with you here:

Task:  How to create a space that says “this is IT, I’m ready for my new Evans Coghill Kitchen!”

Pass your hand over the top of the faucet to turn it on. No need to touch it!

While the clever comments rolled around in my head…including “the chef,” I had to admit it all boils down to a space that works and that satisfies my keen sense of style.  This was my goal for our Cheval home…functional and pleasing!

Think we hit it out of the park!  I look forward to hearing what you think!

Wading through the kitchen world for you, our cabinet designer, appliance vendor, and stone trade partner came up with many great ideas!  We then narrowed down the list even further to come up with a kitchen that you are sure to love!

Please call or use the form here. I promise we will get back in touch promptly.

This week was about the 2013 Evans Coghill Homearama Cheval kitchen!

The designers at Lightstyles refer to their lighting as “the jewelry that takes the look to another level.”   I couldn’t agree more!  Layering on just the right eye catching accessory…makes the whole greater than the sum of all its parts!

Lighting can be is so much more than simply utilitarian function.  It can bring in an element of fun and sophistication, of character and sculptural shape.

Cabinets, countertops, appliances, oh my!  Decisions, decisions, decisions!

(April 2016 update – We have even better lighting options now! All Evans Coghill’s lighting fixtures come from J. Landon Decorative Lighting. We still have Donna to work with and you will love working with her, too!)

(The Charlotte Observer published “In Defense of the Open Kitchen” recently, We absolutely agree with the idea that the open kitchen makes a better home. Wait till you see what we have done at Homearama with this open kitchen.)
